Election Fraud

I am deeply, deeply, deeply concerned about growing reports concerning election fraud. According to reports, voters are discovering that their ballots are not reflecting the choices that they’ve made at the ballot box. Officials are saying that this can be explained by voter error.

I am sure people make mistakes.

But with electronic voting, absent an actual paper trail or chain of evidence, how can anyone know for sure?

This gets to my profound fear: whether intentional or not, if the American people lose faith in the election process, our Republic can be plunged into chaos and even civil war. Extrapolating on the possibility that certain parties are attempting to rig the election is to open a chasm of doubts that has the potential of destroying the rule of law.

If Hillary wins the election fair and square, I will honor her election. Same with Trump, Evan McMillan or Jill Stein, but if a pall of doubt grows over the legitimacy of our elected officials, even a little fraud, can have the de facto effect of nullifying and destroying the very foundation of representative government.

America has enemies. If our enemies desire to harm us there would be no more effective way than to subvert our faith in the democratic process itself. Such a ploy would be to neutralize us without war or coup. As a nation we would be plunged into political chaos.

We are all concerned that an election can be stolen. But the consequence of losing confidence in the election process itself is vastly more catastrophic than who wins or loses. As a republic, we live or die by our faith in the institution itself. Far more profound, the effect of losing faith in the voting process could be to destroy our democracy.

If we are unsure who our Commander-in-Chief is, who commands the military? If we are uncertain as to who the Chief Executive is, who enforces the laws?

This issue, the issue of voter fraud is one that must be addressed swiftly and must not be allowed to linger or fester. Americans must have resolute faith in the plebiscite. If we lose that faith, everything else crumbles.
